Welcome to Halo, if you’re considering having any work done to your home, work or rental property, from an extension or refurbishment to a new build, our approach could well save you a considerable amount of money.

Halo was established in 2012 and has devised an alternative way of pricing a building project which is extremely detailed, a lot fairer, offers greater transparency and at the end of the project, our clients are provided with a full set of accounts showing exactly what was spent and who it was spent with, to the penny.

Most builders work on a quote and build basis or go through a lengthy tender process. Whilst this approach is considered the norm, it has many financial pitfalls and additional costs can be claimed by the builder for unforeseen extras because there is often insufficient information on the drawings to be able to provide an accurate cost. For example, a power and lighting specification or unknown drainage and foundation work. As the project progresses further and decisions/changes are made, your budget could spiral out of control if it’s not checked, managed and monitored properly. 

By working on your behalf to a pre-determined budget, we look to see how far we can make your money stretch without compromising on quality rather than hoping that whatever you want built can be done for the money you have available. To achieve this, not only could we manage the design process to make sure the project can be built to suit your budget, but we also manage the construction process, organize the trades and purchase the materials, help to manage your health and safety obligations, and actively look for ways to save costs and using any underspend from some elements of your project and applying those savings to any overspend on items that can’t be foreseen.

We do this by applying several cost saving strategies so by working to a pre-determined budget and keeping our clients updated throughout the process, we are able to advise if additional costs are likely to affect the overall budget.

As the founder and Managing Director of Halo Building Services Limited, Neil Aylin is a full Member of the Chartered Institute of Building and has over 25 years’ experience in the building and construction industry.

Admin/Account assistant

I am the newest member of the Halo team having joined in December 2017.  My role includes office administration and processing of all supplier, customer invoices and payments.  I support both Sally and Neil when required which provides me with opportunities to get more involved with the projects, of which I enjoy seeing the before and after results of what we deliver to the clients.

On the projects that Halo deliver I carry out the labouring duties for the tradesmen from keeping the site tidy, making cement, to knocking down walls and installing steel RSJ’s.  I make sure that if the tradesmen need further supplies that aren’t already on site I liaise with Sally to find out where the closest supplier is to collect them from, this ensures that the tradesmen can continue to work and keeps us on schedule with the programme of works.  Resulting in delivery of the project in the quickest time possible.

I started working in Halo as the admin/accounts assistant.  My role has now changed to working with Neil helping to co-ordinate the delivery of projects, dealing with suppliers and tradesmen, and liaising with clients regarding their requirements.  I’ve found my new role to be vary varied and at times challenging but the reward is always knowing that I’m helping to deliver to our clients something that they are going to appreciate and enjoy.
